Mena Alexandra Suvari, born on February 13, 1979 in America, is an actor as well as a fashion designer and model. When she was in 1990, shortly after starting her career as model, Suvari started to act in television programs like Boy Meets World. In 1997 she made her acting debut as an actor in the film Nowhere. Following her appearance of American Beauty (for which she won an award from the BAFTA Award) and American Pie which attracted her much attention, she completed her transition into major roles. The actress has appeared in the co-star of American Pie Jason Biggs in Loser (2000) and then played the main character for the film Sugar & Spice (2001). The film also featured her in the independent 2002 drama Spun as well as the 2004 action film Trauma. The actress was a part of HBO's drama series Six Feet Under. In 2004, she was recognized as the Outstanding Cast Member at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. In 2008 her filmography included Day of the Dead The Mysteries of Pittsburgh The adaptation to The Garden of Eden and numerous other films. Suvari is a model for Lancome Paris Adaptive, and she has also appeared on several blogs and fashion magazines like Vogue. Suvari has been a long-time advocate for and champion to the African Medical and Research Foundation. Additionally, she is involved in issues of empowerment for women, as well as charitable organizations that promote breast cancer research and End Violence Against Women.
